Melanated Monday Black Business Spotlight: The Elevate Cafe

Melanated Monday Black Business Spotlight: The Elevate Cafe

Welcome to this week’s edition of the Melanated Monday Black Business Spotlight. This is where The Afropreneurial Community will showcase a Black-owned business that deserves more of our business. I saw it as only right to showcase the city in a positive light. I will judge every place on accessibility, atmosphere, professionalism, and of course their food/product.

Next stop on our spotlight is The Elevated Cafe at 905 Buchanan Street. This is a work/event space open Monday-Friday 9 am to 2 pm and closed Saturday and Sunday. It is a wonderful space that can be moved to accommodate any event. There are some great things to highlight in regards to their business.

Being located next door to the esteemed Slim and Husky is super convenient. The parking is decent with but can get full with the S&H’s lunch rush. On a busy day like that, street parking is available as well.

You walk into a surprisingly large space. There are TVs to showcase any presentation you might have, bring an HDMI cord. There are hightop tables for patrons to sit and converse while there are couches to lounge and relax. The customer service was great. We met With Andrea Evans, who was more than accommodating for our event especially it being last minute. We had to switch locations due to technical difficulties at the original location. The space was perfect for our event. You have to bring your own food and drinks but it is well worth it. The communication with her was amazing. She immediately reached out with me to figure out details to book with the cafe. There was plenty of space to have a vendor or two while host an event.

The level of professionalism was great. Andrea and Wendell, the owner, were so nice to let us use the space when just catching knowledge of our event the morning of. They are truly here to support the success of black owned businesses of Nashville. They were flexible with the booking fee for me given the situation. They are open to most events! They host events as well! I was overall impressed with space and would definitely use their space again!

Where should we go next? Let us know in the comments!
